Are you affected?
You may be impacted by the WEEE Regulations as a ‘producer’ or ‘distributor’ according to your business activities.
Your company will be called a producer if it produces, imports or re-brands electrical or electronic equipment in the UK . As a producer your company will be required to finance the collection, treatment and recovery of WEEE and to also complete several paperwork and reporting functions.
Your company will be called a ‘distributor‘ if it provides electrical or electronic equipment on a commercial basis which is then placed on the UK market. Shops, internet re-sellers and catalogue/tele-sales companies are all types of distributors according to the legal wording of the Regulations, although the term ‘retailer’ is normally used in every-day terms.
